I would to for example to put a green piece of 8.5 x 11 card stock filled with assorted leaf dies.** A: No this machine will not cut 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock. I have the Anna Griffin Empress cutting machine with the 5 x 7 plates and the 7 x 12 plates. Since a piece of paper is 8.5 inches is larger than 7 inches it would need to be cut to 7 inches to fit the larger plates. the largest plate cuts 7 x 12. I bought the machine and plates for the larger cards and dies from Anna Griffin. **Q: What is the size of these plates? The description and the photo doesn't match** A: They are 8.6"x13.5". Anna's website is out of stock on the Magnetic plates so I decided to pick up this set. Considering the wait for some Products on the Anna Griffin site plus the shipping charge, Amazon was the better choice for me. I really wish the individual plates were available throughout the year because I only need the second Magnetic plate to use a few of my oddball Embossing Plates. This set of plates arrived quickly and were well packaged. I sure appreciate the availability of these on Amazon. FYI, I called the Anna Griffin company to ask a question about the Mini Empress. I know, just considering... And I happened to bring up the long wait for out of stock plates on their site. The representative said that using a smaller Magnetic plate would also work in my regular Empress. I am waiting for some of the Mini Magnetic plates to arrive. They might be a suitable work around at $8.00 each. I purchased some. Shipping was $7.00. I love my Empress and enjoy using such a quiet machine. My Clear Plates, a year old, are original and still flat, really happy about that! But I am considering picking up additional plates when available because the company doesn't seem to stock them consistently through the year. I hadn't even considered Empress consumables being difficult to obtain when I chose the machine. It turns out to be an important factor. But I really like my Empress and it is a quality product I hope to use for many years.
