However, the fan is not approved for outdoor use. It is a room to room fan. **Q: Is this quiet?** A: On high it's not real quiet but if it's the only thing on in the room you can hear it. If you turn it down it makes almost no noise but it won't push much air at that level. I wouldn't buy this product again for what I was trying to do. I was trying to heat/cool and adjacent 12 x 12 room and there just isn't enough volume to be that effective. This unit will do that. Couple of things you need to pay attention to:1. Easy installation, all instructions, hardware and blueprint to cut the drywall included.1. You must get NuTone Variable Speed Wall Control to work in tandem with. Without it the fan will rev at full speed and it's noisy. Tried other wall controls and none worked.2. To cool my media closet (size 4' wide x 6' long x 8' high) the wall control is set at ~70% and fan makes barely any noise.3. As you see in the picture, I ran the installation through a thermostat (power goes to thermostat which is connected to wall speed control which is connected to the fan).
