Review: Quality unit Quality Customer Service - I do not use the unit for home theatre. In my use for art work it works well. The only problem I had was that an included 4gb flash drive was corrupted and would not "fix" or "reformat". It did not contain critical data and flash drives are available elsewhere. Not good, but not a deal breaker. I think that for artist, the unit is better than trying to jerry-rig a multimedia projector for closer canvas detail work. Art work is what it's made for and that's what it does. The quick set up guide shows the button on top as a power button. I pushed it and nothing happened. For a moment I thought that the unit was failed. The top button is really a sleep/wake button and the true power button is a slide switch on the side. The slide switch actually turns the power on and off. When I slid it to the on position, all worked well. The Quick set up manual might better handle that. The light output is adequate for working on canvas even in well lighted rooms. No problem there. The image is clear and easily adequate for sketching in details for a painting. The unit is well designed and constructed. I wish a USB cable which would connect the unit to a PC was part of the package. The package does include an HDMI cable. I had an issue with the units light Blinking while moving the projected image up/down to adjust the image. I contacted Customer service and they went to a great deal of effort to provide an answer. It turns out the blinking was the normal image adjustment and was actually a positive feature of the unit, not a problem. I was highly impressed with the customer service response both by email and telephone. Review: Serious Tool for Serious Artists - The Impression1400 is a serious artist tool for serious artists. Professional artists will find its grids and perspective arrays to be extremely useful and will generally love this projector. I find it an outstanding device in the studio and even outdoors at night where electricity is available (obviously, only in fine weather). It has the power for fairly large artworks. A good investment for the professional. Both vertical and horizontal keystone control are excellent. You can also skew images by moving a single corner. It means you can adjust images to fit odd shapes. Has a mount screw hole for using on a camera tripod (use a ball head to be able to project onto a ceiling. Make sure the tripod is sturdy enough to not tip over). The high and low contrast grayscale modes are a great help when painting. The Impression1400 costs more than similar sized projectors that are intended for viewing videos etc, but I am unaware of another projector that is so well tuned to the needs of the professional artist. Casual or beginner artists should know that the projector will not make artwork better, or necessarily easier to do. It could easily be an expensive toy for anyone inexperienced with perspective and using grids, and potentially a disappointment. I just used trial and error, reducing the file size until I got one that worked. There is a web site and phone to call for help though. I think it will do all I need except flip an image which is a shame given that it’s a pricey product. But it’s well made and you get a good image.
