Are the tiles wood? If so should work. Sorry for not being more helpful. **Q: Would the osmo polyx be okay on a fireplace mantle that gets pretty warm?** A: Yes, it will be fine after the full cure time of two weeks. **Q: Does this product penetrate like a mineral oil or does it have some body to it? Personally I find the protection from scratches and moisture to be very low. However, we only own solid wood furniture and expect some yearly maintenance and this product couldn't make that process easier. Simply use a card scraper to remove any trouble spots and blend out the spot, then wipe a coat or two of this product over it, that simple. It does have a moderate odor, but it is manageable.Again, a card scraper is your best friend for basic repairs such as the one I use found here: https://amzn.to/4p0KeF8For application I use clean white (old) bed sheets.
