Warm, wicking, comfortable--everything thermals should be and at a bargain price. *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2014* I have an interesting thermal underwear story.I had an urgent need for this long underwear purchase, so I bought it at a local store.(Note: I wrote the exact same review for the top. This is a copy of that review.)I'm a film and television actor who was cast in a miniseries which is set in 1966. It had become unseasonably cold, so we were told to put on warm layers underneath the clothes wardrobe had chosen for us. But the problem is, everything has to fit the period, and cannot have any logos or brand names displayed on it. They check us several times a day on a film or television shoot to make sure we are dressed for the part, so if they saw a bit of Underarmor or other high tech undergarment, the actor would be obligated to take if off--and freeze. Even something which isn't really visible can get you kicked off set if not approved by Wardrobe because a seam could show through your clothing or it might just not look right for some reason.So I clearly needed white long underwear in good, old fashioned cotton. I ran out to a local store here in Astoria, Queens and found exactly what I needed, both tops and bottoms. The store owner actually said they would no longer be carrying it because the new X-Temp is double the price of the previous ones Hanes sold.Still, for all the high tech claims, I wasn't confident that this would actually keep me warm in an Autumn wardrobe, but it was better than nothing. Wow, am I glad I bought this set. I was just about the only one out there who wasn't shivering their way through exterior scenes.It's not only warm, but has all the comfort you usually hear about cotton having without the least bit of disappointment.FEEL: No tags, no scratchy waist band, flat seams, and again I must say I was perfectly comfortable in every way. It's as comfortable as Hanes' cotton undershirts.FIT: I read a bunch of reviews which said both the tops and bottoms were smaller than the expected fit. Not all of them, but a lot of reviews said this. As an actor, I need to know my sizes--my honest, real sizes--because my clothes have to fit right. When you walk around in public with clothes that are too big or small, it's no big deal, but when you don't have the perfect fit on camera it's tragically bad--or effective depending on what you're going for. If you want to look like a bum on camera, wear clothes that don't fit right.Don't worry, no one is going to see the size on the tag if you buy a size larger. That's strictly between you and whomever does your laundry. So don't force yourself into a size too small or too big. It wont feel or look right. Clothes that fit always look good.My point is, I looked at the size chart on the back of the packaging and chose size large based on that--and it fit perfectly if not a little roomy. Recommendations online said I should buy a size larger, but that's not true. They shouldn't be tight or too loose. And I don't have a perfect body; I just know exactly what my sizes are. In fact, here they are for reference: 42R-44R jacket, 17 neck, 33 sleeve, 36 waist measured at the belly button (I would like to lie about this one but wont), 29 inseam--I'm built like a mountain gorilla. I'm in the range for large according to the packaging, so that's what I bought.PRICE: After buying these, I looked up the price on various sites. It turned out that at $11.99 for each, the top and bottom, I got the cheapest price by at least a dollar or two. And if I look up any other make and model of thermals--all the high tech, smart wool, special colors, logos all over--I would be paying at least double for something that isn't as comfortable and not one bit warmer.
