So when it’s broad daylight, getting a power sleep can be difficult - no matter how tired I am. I can’t sleep when it’s light outside, even with closed curtains. I thought I’d get an sleep mask to see if it would help at all, and purchased this one based on the reviews, and because it has contours in place to prevent squished eyelashes and improve overall comfort.I can truly say, this is a delightful product. It’s exceeded my expectations in every way.Firstly the packaging was really professional and attractive. It came in a lovely sturdy box with a fold over lid, and included some ear plugs (really useful, also.)The product itself is very well made. The softness of the fabric is lovely, it feels gentle around the eye and luxurious to the touch. The adjustable band around the head is brilliant. I slacken it off when I have a headache and the eye mask stays in place. The eye contours are great, it doesn’t feel like there’s anything there at all. And the material that rests under the eye feels gentle enough to not be contributing to any new wrinkles!I haven’t washed the sleep mask yet, so I can’t say what it will be like after it’s freshly cleaned. But I’m sure a gentle hand washing won’t cause any harm.I can’t say that it absolutely 100% blocks out all light, there may be a teeny slither at the bridge of the nose and maybe in the periphery, but I think only a sleep mask with a suction cup function would be capable of 100% light blocking! I tried several but none came even close to the comfort of this one!The material is very nice and soft to touch. It has contoured eye cups which helps not putting pressure on your eyes (an issue I’ve had with others before!).* COMFORTThese are bar far the most comfortable sleep mask I’ve had before! The main reason for me is that I’m a side sleeper and unlike others, this mask has the adjustable buckle at the back rather than on the sides. It makes all the difference as I found that having the buckle on the side would hurt. This is the not the case with this one and well done Alaska Bear for having thought of us, side sleepers!Another thing I really like with this mask is that is has a soft strap around the ears, which you put over, not above like others. I used to have sore ears in the morning with other masks but this one is perfect!I’m not quite bald yet but I think this might also be a good alternative for bald people due to the buckle / strap that can be moved more in the neck area than on the back of the head.* BLACKOUT EFFECTIVENESSThese block the light completely when adjusted properly. It’s true from other reviews that you could see light coming in around the nose but I found that could be the case if you move at night. The way I found which helps is to tighten the strap more. The mask I bought for myself had the stars on it and my partner had this full black mask. When they arrived they were both quite different. The totally black mask had a larger eye coverage area, the area around the nose had more material to help block out the light, the contour parts were softer and the bag that came with it was a larger black silk bag (the stars mask included a very small organza big which was definitely not big enough. I reached out to customer service to state the the mask with the stars was not as good quality and I asked if they could send another black mask. They did this without any issues and it arrived very quickly! So for that they are a great company.I do not go to sleep with my mask on, but with the current very hot weather, the open windows mean I get waken up by the birds in the very early morning. I then know it's about to get very sunny so I put on the mask. It's very comfortable and the coverage across the eyes is great! I do often sleep on my side so on occasion the nose coverage part is pushed over and it does let a bit of light in, but I just re-adjust and it's not an issue anymore.
