## Description

Product description

Review: Difficult, but WONDERFUL! - The bi-fold doors on my wife's closet had never closed correctly in 16 years. The hardware used was the normal, cheap hardware you find on most bi-fold doors & getting them adjusted properly was nearly impossible. I decided there must be a better way to hang the doors. Then I found the parts from L.E. Johnson. Installing this new system was complicated by me having to remove the cheap hardware from the doors in order to use the new parts. I had to repair some areas where holes were left & damage was done by the old parts. Also, your bi-fold doors MUST be 2 7/8" shorter than your door frame opening. I had to cut off 7/8" from the bottom of all 4 of the doors. Having hollow core doors required me to check Google for the proper method to do so. I don't have a power saw, so I cut my doors with a hand saw (it can be done). Installing these parts on new bi-fold doors would be much easier than replacing the previous hanging system. After the old hardware was removed & the doors cut down to size the installation of the new parts could begin. I agree with others that the instructions weren't written for regular people (seem to be for general contractors), but if you're careful & measure correctly, you will be able to install these parts. When you finish, you will have the absolute best operating bi-fold doors you've ever used. They glide effortlessly & hang straight. Adjustments are precise & reasonably easy. As my picture shows my doors now close perfectly. After 16 years of never being able to close the doors properly I now have perfectly functioning & great looking closet doors. My wife is thrilled with her "new" doors. I highly recommend this bi-fold door hanging system. I love my easy closing doors!
Review: Great Hardware for Heavy Bi-Fold Door - Fact – Bi-fold doors take patience to install. I have found that the Johnson track system has given me the best and easiest to install hardware for heavy solid 6 panel oak bi-fold doors. While I’ve noticed some people complain about the instructions, if you look at the diagram, all the necessary dimensions are provided, just not a lot of meat in the step-by-step that some people would like to see. Do you need to cut your doors, possibly, but again look at the diagram and you’ll see how long your doors need to be to accommodate your opening along with the Johnson hardware. I’ve had to cut my doors once, the second time, I did not. Just take a breath and allocate 2 or 3 hours and you’ll get through the installation. Just a couple things to add: 1. Measure the height of your opening in 3-4 places. Subtract around 3" (2 7/8" per instructions) and that's the length of your door. You may have to cut the doors on an angle if your existing floor or top jam is out of plumb. You can also shim at the top track or bottom pivot if your door is too short. 2. Mount the hardware to the bi-folds. Measurements are on the first page for all 3 pieces. 3. Locate the center of your jam and mount the top rail. You have to pre-load the center bumper, wheel, and top pivot before securing the rail to the top jam. 4. Locate the bottom pivot, pre-drill and mount the pivot. Remove it before hanging doors. Pre-mounting the bottom pivot will make it easier after you hang the door as its hard to get to the mounting screws once the door is hung. 5. Hang the door onto the top pivot and then the wheel. Lock both before proceeding. You'll want to have a heavy piece of cardboard handy to rest the bottom pivot. This will help you avoid scratching a finished floor. 6. Slide the bottom pin into the bottom pivot, move into position, and secure to floor. You'll have to tilt the assembly to get the pivot onto the pin. 7. Adjust door. You can adjust the bottom pivot, top pivot, and the nut on the tricycle wheel. If you don't get the proper clearance to the jam or between matching doors, you may have to either shim or relocate the bottom pivot. This is where the 2-3 hours come into play. Note that these instructions work for the heavy duty Johnson hardware. I have not tried mounting the lighter variations of their hardware. Photo is of bi-fold doors that I had to cut both at the top and bottom for a custom height and out of plumb floor. 2-3 hours on this one did not apply.... Hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well worth the expense and time to install.
*by G***I on January 19, 2018*

You can have faith that it holds very heavy doors. Its a quality piece of manufacruring. Some people complained about the directions. Dont worry, they're not that bad. If youre doing this solo and doing a pair of bifolds (4 doors). Be prepared. It took me 4 hours. Each panel went up seperately. Trying to hang solid doors vs. cheapie hollow core is much more difficult. Well worth the price and time. It works very well.
