It has many joints due to various accidents and efforts to find the breaks, it encloses about one acre.. Often a hard rain would result in a fence failure. A new dog required that the fence always worked. (The old dog had long since given up testing the boundaries whether the fence was working or not, he wouldn't even get close.) I installed one of these PSUSA splices at every joint that appeared to be a potential problem. So far, after about three months, the fence has worked perfectly The new dog tested the fence only one time, got shocked, and has since stayed in the yard. We have not had a real gulley washer since the splices were installed, so we will see.!The splices require a small hole in the ground to fit the body of the PSUSA splice into to keep it away away from the lawn mower, trimmer, etc.The splice is made in the usual way by twisting the two ends of the wire together with the included terminal and inserting the terminal until it is completely submerged in the sealant contained in the PSUSA splice body and the cover is snapped closed. I have an in-ground electric pet fence that is not quite entirely "in ground" in some areas that make it impossible to do so; I've had workmen and neighbors (trimming too close to my property) cut the line; these work great to make repairs.
