I left food in the cooler,which was well-insulated, and it which was still cold when I got home. Freezing or melting overcomes the "latent heat of fusion" which is about the same heat as is required to raise the temperature of (for example) liquid water by almost 80°F, or frozen water (ice) by about 150°F. So an ice pack in a cooler will spend most of its time at it's melting point. Once it's all melted, the subsequent temperature rise will be very quick. **Q: Are these reusable?** A: They are reusable.
