This latest addition to the Scream franchise was a big improvement on number 4. There are strong links back to the first movie, which will always be the best and it was great to see some of the original cast back for more bloodshed. As you would expect from a Scream movie it is all very meta with nods to similar films that are a continuation of old stories, bringing back classic cast members to mix with the new and it was a decent tribute or attempt to recreate what made the first one so special, or even the first two in my opinion which were both superb nodding winks to the classic cliches of these types of horror movie. However, this does still lag behind somewhat. The characters just were not as eccentric, bonkers or memorable as the first couple of movies that had laughs, jumps and scares in equal measure. Plus, I was really distracted by Courtney Cox's mouth, what has gone wrong there while under the surgeon's knife? Bad cast, bad acting, ridiculous storyline, filled with mistakes, poor continuity, and no great funny one liners that Scream is famous for. Just a cheesy B movie type horror.
