I purchased it after my top screen ribbon cable failed/tore when an aftermarket case from 2008 cracked.NOTE: This does not include the plastic screen that fits over this LCD screen. If yours is scratched, consider replacing. I salvaged mine from the old DS screen. The adhesive is working fine, but be careful when prying it off the old screen. Start in a corner and work slowly toward another corner until it is off.This repair is not easy. It's not extremely complicated, but most would consider it difficult. You need to have some basic soldering skills, but more importantly, you need patience and a steady hand. You will be soldering on ribbon cable, and if care is not taken, you can easily destroy the cable. The trouble aside from soldering, is actually getting your new ribbon cable to fit back through the top case hole. This take time and patience. Watch a few YouTube tutorials to learn some tricks to get that cable in place. I soldered at 400C with 0.8mm solder and a fine tip. Keep contact with the solder on the cable to short touches. Prolonged contact with the solder or ribbon will damage it. Excessive solder could bridge connections and make your speakers not work.After soldering the new screen speakers, connect the flat cable to the DS motherboard to test your new screen before attempting to feed the ribbon cable through the case.I personally found that removing the metal circle from the top case hinge, and wrapping the cable around the ds stylus helped. Care must be given to the flat connection when passing through the case. DON'T CREASE OR BEND THE CABLE IN ANY WAY OR IT WILL BREAK.Clean your protective screen with dust removing tape and the LCD screen. Nothing is more frustrating than dust or smudges you can't remove. Again take your time and get this done right.When re-assembling I found to align the top protective screen with adhesive, it was best to place it in the top case first, then place this replacement LCD over it. It prevents misalignment issues, and saves the double sided tape.My new scteen works the same as my old screen. If your DS power light flashes green and won't power on, the top screen ribbon cable is misaligned. Make sure it is inserted all the way. I've done this a few times, but it's easy to fix before or after you've put the case back together.I've included a photo of the speaker wiring before replacement.
