Please click on Helpful at the bottom of this review if what I wrote is useful to you.I love chocolate milkshakes. If I could afford the calories, I'd have one every day. I love the flavor, the texture, the mouth feel, and the satisfied feeling when I am finished.The problem is that milkshakes are horrendously caloric. A large McDonald's shake is over 800 calories. A large chocolate shake from Sonic is a whopping *1410* calories! Enjoying chocolate milkshakes with any frequency is just not something you can do if you want to be, or at least look, healthy.Enter Concord Foods Chocolate Banana Smoothie. This tastes as good or better than a chocolate shake, with all the richness and viscosity of the real thing, but with a banana component to the flavor. I suspect, but don't know, that the banana is in part to add viscosity to the final product. Whether that's correct or not, the flavor is terrific. There is a nice, strong taste of chocolate in it.The second best part: There is more volume to this than even a large chocolate milkshake. The picture I've attached shows a 22 ounce glass filled to the top which matches or exceeds a typical large milkshake -- but, there was a fair amount left over, probably about 30% of the volume of the glass shown. So you can really really indulge here.Now, the best part: This entire smoothie prepared as directed is just 330 calories in total -- that includes the mix, the banana, and the skim milk. Finally you can enjoy a chocolate shake with enormous frequency -- I have at least two a week, and even then the two combined have the same calories as one *small* McDonald's milkshake.I did find that for my size ice cubes -- made by my refrigerator that come in those crescent moon shapes -- work best when I use 18 in the mix, which is a bit more than the recipe calls for. I would recommend trying different levels. Too many will create a thicker result but with less froth and a slightly diluted flavor. Too few will not give it the air and bulk you want. When you find the sweet spot for the size ice cubes you have, you will have a full, fluffy, frothy result, as seen in the attached photos.I can't speak well enough of this product. I bought so many of them over time that they just run out immediately, due to me.I am not sure why they stopped having this item in stores but no matter. I buy it online.I love the idea of adding a banana with chocolate and mixed with milk, one ice cube and this mixture. It gives me satisfaction that I am having something I like and need, which is potassium and calcium into my diet.However, as a diabetic, you have to count how many carbs, and adjust to how much insulin to take with this, and read the label of how many carbs are in this product also. Blood sugars can spike very high if you don't take insulin to compensate for the carb count overall with everything to make in this very delicious smoothie.This product from Concord has impressed me how well it mixes in my small blender, no problems. If you don't take the time to really blend it up, you will get some small portion of banana at the bottom of the blender. Make sure you cut up the bananas in small slices. It's worth the effort to take five minutes to really get it mixed.I love this flavoring so much that I tried others, like strawberry smoothies. I love it, I also use a variety of fruit like raspberries to blend into it too. I've tried to mix a small banana with strawberries with the chocolate banana smoothie but it was with mixed results of that one. It just didn't work.Overall, I am loyal with this product since 2008.
