The description says "approximately"** A: I ordered this holder and it will not hold a 3/8 dial indicator. The hole is much too small at 8 mm and the dial indicators are 9.52 mm (3/8) on my calculator. You cannot pry it open and I don't think there is enough metal to drill it our successfully. I do like how the arms hold, but I am at a loss as to solving the holding diameter. Buying another dial indicator just adds to the cost. I will probably return it. **Q: What is the thread size for the arm connecting to the base?** A: I don’t know. It’s solid at the base. I wouldn’t recommend buying it. Get a NOGA **Q: Do you have one with a 3/8 hole instead of 8mm?** A: I had to drill mine out to 3/8 and it is easy to do as the metal is aluminum. **Q: Can you remove the magnet base and use it in a collet or chuck??** A: The mount at the magnetic base is a ball swivel.
