    5 was comfortable, my big toe was pressed all the way ...

I have a wide foot and usually wear a size 9  - and in Wide or C/D if available. I first ordered a 1/2 size smaller based on the recommendation in the seller's ad. Although the 8.5 was comfortable, my big toe was pressed all the way to the end of the shoe and my toe would've started to hurt with prolonged wearing. So, I returned the shoe for my usual size 9 and it fits perfectly! The velcro straps on the heel and across the front of the shoe make it possible to adjust the width as needed. The shoe is just as cute as pictured, very comfortable - and I love it!

I've owned a few pairs of these and worn them until they fell apart literally. I work in a hospital and do a lot of walking. Great fit and the double adjustable straps help custom the fit if my feet are swelling or not. Last a long time even with daily wear. I've even tossed in my washing machine and they come out great just air dry them. I recommend them for anyone who has a hard time finding good shoes that fit a high arch.

This shoe is very uncomfortable - the insole is like walking on a board - a painful experience.  I have had two pairs of Mephisto shoes - this style - and they were very comfortable.  I purchased these two pairs from the Mephisto store in Houston, Texas.  These are expensive shoes and I expected the same product and comfort when I ordered from Amazon.  Now I have a $200 shoe that I cannot wear.
