Is it just rubber?** A: Yes the band is rubber. Pretty high quality. Does not get brittle in the cold. **Q: Is this suitable for use for removing Big Blue water filter housings?** A: Yes this will work but is overkill for a water filter. If this is the only application you will be using it for I would suggest searching Amazon for β€œwater filter wrench”. I had to do an entire DWV run in a crawl space and this tool was a massive help. Seems dumb at first thinking, "yeah, whatever, I've put so much pipe together with my bare hands so why bother."
