The surface is Chrome plated which makes the lock to look like metal.It is strong enough to be used in cars and vessels during moving. (It will prevent the drawers and cabinet doors to open during maneuvers. I have customers in Europe that they use it in Ambulances. **Q: Will these fit on a 2007 Casita trailer?** A: If you have a 1" hole for the "handle" to protrude through, then yes. There is a latch that pops up when you push the button (handle) in, that locks the drawer.
