The camera's image quality is not the best, but worth the price paid.The FTDI was fine. Connect the ESP32-CAM's digital pin 0 (labeled IO0 on the board, two pins away from 3.3V) to ground to put the board into programming mode. FTDI's VCC to ESP's 5v, GND to GND, RX to UOT, TX to UOR. After flashing, remove the digital pin 0 -> ground and reset. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Poor video quality *by on Reviewed in the United States 6 September 2025* It works, very poor video quality. ### ⭐⭐⭐ The included USB serial adapter did not work with the esp32 cam under Windows 10 *by on Reviewed in the United States 7 November 2020* The included USB serial adapter would not program the dev board under windows 10. As the description clearly states it has a fake FTDI ft232rl IC. I assumed that even with a fake IC, it would still work to program the dev board. Well, it does not play nicely with the Windows 10 FTDI driver. This led to a lot of frustration that cumulated in purchasing an Adafruit USB serial adapter with a guaranteed genuine ft232rl IC. That solved the problem and the device now programs without any problems. So if you do purchase this kit, make sure you have a USB serial adapter with a genuine ft232rl for programming it.
