The mixture is a low viscosity liquid that penetrates porous surfaces filling and sealing voids with an epoxy that cures to a hard but durable component. PC-Rot Terminator is useful for replacement of missing wood fibers or wood resin. PC-Rot Terminator fills the voids in the wood with an elastomer that has strength greater than wood. PC-Rot Terminator acts as a binder that glues the wood fibers together. The wood fibers become much stronger in combination with the epoxy elastomer. PC-Rot Terminator contains 100 percent active ingredients and does not contain solvents which may evaporate and cause shrinkage. The cure rate in the thicker sections is faster than in the thin sections. The greater the temperature, the faster the cure time. PC-Rot Terminator cure can be accelerated using a light bulb or other gentle heat source. The cure rate is halved for every 20 degree F increase. After cure (roughly 24 hours) fill in missing pieces with PC Woody paste epoxy. One unit of 24 ounces will seal 50 to 100 square feet of deck as a sealer. The wood in question was a rim joist directly on my foundation underneath my bathtub which was leaking when I bought my home. I ripped the tub and flooring out and I let the wood air out until it was dry and I drilled 1/8 inch holes the whole length and height about 2 inches apart and a half inch deep and filled the holes until they weeped, and extra where there were chunks gone, within 24 hours 90% was hardened. I topped it off with pc-petrifier which comes in a gallon bottle, I brushed several coats of that on and let that cure, the wood was very solid and sturdy enough to sister in a new joist and every screw bit in and I didn't have to jack up my house to replace the board. It's been 2 years since and no structural or shrinkage or other issues. I would highly recommend, I did use two boxes worth for a 2x8 that 8 feet long due to the severity of damage, very easy to use and saved me thousands of dollars. (The hardwood lumber was otherwise fine - it came that way from the mill). The bad section was right at the lower hinge and on a 3/0 door there is a lot of stress at that point. Searched the internet for solutions and found this product. The mix is very liquid and has a slow cure which allows it to flow into the voids. I built a small “dam” with tape and scraps of wood, protected by wax paper and kept adding the mix until it was no longer absorbed. After about two hours I removed the “dam” and cleaned off the surface with acetone. The material hardened over night and the problem was solved. I was able to mortice for the hinge without any problem and the hinge screws bit solidly in the material.
