Review: THIS PUMP SAVED ME AT LEAST $500!!!! - FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC, MONEY-SAVING DEVICE!!! I had a pool service bank on the fact that my husband and I were super busy, and scam the heck out of us! By the time we realized that they weren't doing anything for their money, our 15,000+ gallon pool looked like a terarium (you know, with the green plants growing from the bottom)!!! Even though we just had the pool drained and acid washed this past January, you couldn't tell by the green sludge on every surface. My husband went to the local AZ pool store, and they sold him $200 worth of chemicals. But, I happened to be talking to an excellent car repairman (which used to be a pool repairman) that said "DON'T DO IT! YOU WILL JUST PUT ALL OF THAT ALGAE THROUGH YOUR DE FILTER!!!" So, I decided to look for a pump and get some skin in the game. I found this great little pump on desertcart and was very excited. See, it cost me $500 to have my pool emptied and acid washed 10 months ago. And, the local Home D rents a pump to do this job for the same price! I watched the videos of this GREAT LITTLE PUMP and used the idea to cover it with a filter sock. That seemed like a great idea because I was worried that my SUPREME ALGAE would clog the pump. I also put it into the pool net (as shown in the video) because I was going to empty a very large pool. And, while it is only a playpool in AZ (meaning it is an in-ground pebble-tek pool that is just 6' deep at the deep end), I am too old to dive in to get the pump out of the cold water (yes, pool water gets cold in AZ, too)! So, the net allowed me to pull the pump up using the metal pole. Here are some tips that helped: 1) A regular garden hose will screw right on! I started to buy a one-way valve, but after reading, realized I just didn't need it. I just needed a hose that was long enough to reach from the bottom of the pool to my sewer return. 2) Just like the manufacturer says, the pump needs water in order to keep it cool. So, if your pool runs dry, it will overheat. But, we caught it pretty quickly all three times it occurred (I have an in-ground spa that waterfalls into the pool that needed to be drained separately). We just let it rest, turned it back on and it started right away! 3) The pump really does drain down to an 1/8 inch. But, it is bottom heavy. Once the water level got very low, I had to find a way to allow it to be flat. In an in-ground pool, the sides gently slope to the bottom without getting out my magic carpet! 4) There is absolutely no sound when the pump is under water. We could tell it was sucking by the hose pressure. 5) The pump itself is tiny and light (see the details). I was super surprised how easy this was to use! 6) It took approximately 4 days and nights to drain all 15,000+ gallons of our pool. I got skittish as we were close to done, and would stop and start to avoid overheating. 7) The water pressure is good, but probably not enough to run a sprinker (as the guy in the video says). Now, keep in mind, I was pumping about 70 feet from the bottom of my pool to my sewer return in the front of our house. His is A LOT closer. In the end, I completely emptied my pool, picked up the disgusting algae wet (we actually used a broom and dust pan to pick it up while wet---just imagine the smell of a lagoon coming from your own backyard). Then, once the pool was empty, used the same broom to brush the Pebble surface to knock off the algae. I want to use CLR to get some of the calcium off of the surface where the tile is, but am only a WEEKEND MAMA WARRIOR, so it is a slow process. But, it would likely have cost me 10X the cost of this FANTASTIC LITTLE PUMP if I hadn't found this great tool! BTW- I took off the one filter sock, threw it away, put the little pump back in the box, and put it on a top shelf in the garage for whenever I need it again. Just in case you are wonder, I am waiting to use the chemicals (which are now in the garage) to balance the pool once I fill it again. :)
Review: Thank you for a quality product that goes right to work flawlessly. - My 26-year-old inground concrete storm cellar has a lid with a seam that has failed and has leaked the past 6 or 7 years, so always 6 inches or so of standing water in it. I finally stepped up and bought this Jackson pump from past years of using bilge units for our boat that have worked on D batteries. Can't tell you what a pain those bilge pumps have been, with the short silicone hose and if you forget and leave one in the cellar the humidity and the slowly filling cellar just corrodes the batteries in it and you're done. Also, the bilge pumps don't have the power to make the vertical up and out, or too short of silicone hoses so had to haul the water out in a bucket. After the first use of this Superior Pump, you can bet your butt I wanted to hug the necks of everyone at Superior Pump for manufacturing and designing this awesome pump!!! And so affordable when I think back on what I've spent on D batteries alone. Pump hooked up easily to a standard garden hose and pulled the hose up out of the cellar and across the yard. Plugged the pump into an outdoor extension cord with ground and lowered the pump down into the deepest corner of the water. Plugged it into the GFI outlet we use for our pool pump just to be extra safe and immediately this pump went to work. I couldn't hear it pumping as I was by the pool, but it is a quiet pump, but I immediately saw the water coming out of the hose like a turned on spicket (spigot but I prefer the slang American spelling. ) You will be impressed with the power and force you to get with this small plug in pump! Made quick work of the 6X8 cellar's flooded floor. Has a release jet that I don't remember the actual function but it worked great keeping the mud and debris that comes in through the cellar's ventilation away from the screened suction bottom of the pump. Everything worked beautifully and I just want to say thank you to the men and women at Superior Pump for creating a flawless, quality product that goes straight to work & made in the USA.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this be user to flush a tankless heater with vinigar**
A: I bought the pump for this very reason. I'm not sure if it is rated to handle vinegar, but at the price I figured I'd try it and see. I have two tankless water heaters, and I wanted a pump that could clean out both at the same time and this pump certainly does the job. I have a hose that runs from the pump, into a splitter. From the splitter I have two hoses going to each water heater (one hose per water heater). Even pushing water through two hoses, it still has a strong flow, with each hose pushing about the same flow as the water hose faucet outside your house opened wide open (guestimate). The splitter I have allows me to adjust the flow rate by closing off some valves if it is too strong. For just one water heater, i would think this pump is too strong (as it REALLY moves water), but I'm not a plumber so I couldn't say for sure. If I were to do it again, I think I would have purchased the 1/4 HP pump, or even the 1/5HP for cleaning out water heaters with vinegar. I cleaned out my water heater this week for the first time using this pump. I let it run for 2 hrs, and I noticed that it got warm (about the temp of a warm-to-hot bath). I'm not sure if that is normal, but thought I'd let you know.

**Q: What's the PSI or max head (pumping vertical height) of this pump?**
A: Length of hose for a sump pump is not nearly as important as lift. you can have a long horizontal run with only minor flow loss. Friction loss (the loss from hose length) at these low pressures is very small. The elevation (aka lift) is the true limiting factor. (PSI means pounds per square inch, FYI, the water pressure coming into your house from the main is about 50-80psi, someone wondered what psi meant). Based on the chart, this pump moves about 30 gallons per minute (gpm). If you lift ten feet the flow drops to about 20 gpm; at 20 feet of lift it's flowing about 10 gpm. I have used this with vinegar to flush my tankless water heater and I used it with about 50/50 mix of simple green and water in a 5 gallon bucket as a parts washer for motorcycle parts and the pump is fine. I do flush it with clean water when I am done.

**Q: Does it have an automatic shut off?**
A: The pump does not have an automatic shut off. I added a float switch because I wanted it to pump out a sink that had a slow-running clogged drain where I had the washing machine. When the sink was mostly pumped out the float switch turned off the pump. It worked great for a couple years until I got around to dealing with snaking the drain which didn't have an easy clean-out. This is a good pump, since the sink drain got taken care of, we've been using the pump to pump koi pond water over a 5' fence to our neighbor's garden using about 150' of garden hose. The pump runs continuously for 5+ hours without issues in this process.

**Q: Will clothes washer hoses fit on this pump?**
A: The pump itself fits a garden hose nicely. You can buy the attachment package listed next to it for the converter piece. It only came to around $8.00. It also comes with a larger hose. I didn't need it for my spa but if you need to empty a washer or bigger pool it seems like it would come in handy. Hope that helps. Good luck. :-)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great little pump
*by H***E on August 16, 2026*

Good little pump. I ran the heck out of this dang thing In every condition possible: nasty water, pool water, clean water, Not holy water, Washing machine water because LG stinks and now i have a speed queen. Thing for a long time and considering it’s a cheap Chinese little pump, not Japanese, thus it is on a limited life cycle. Still ran for a good few years.
