It can be over a year by the time I finish all 4 and they maintain good flavor. **Q: This is my very favorite rice blend. is it being discontinued? please say no! i'm speaking of the texmati brown & wild rice with soft wheat & rye** A: Try contacting the company. **Q: Is this the rare texas wild rice (zizania texans) or a hybrid of it?** A: I have used a lot of this, the label just says wild rice. It appears to be the same wild rice I can buy in bulk, like Minnesota wild rice. I don't know what you refer to, what it looks like to be able to tell. I do know I love the flavor of this blend and it is very healthy compared to regular rice :) **Q: We have this at the grocery store so I can try it before I get a case. Is it chewy like most brown? I don't like that.** A: I don't like brown rice but I like this, I guess it's a personal thing and I love wild rice. I like the texture of this especially how it doesn't seem to get over cooked. It does have bits that are chewier than others - the larger grains make it that way but satisfying not gross to me. Like the other person advised go buy some at the store and try it first if not sure but I bought a case too and didn't think I made a mistake.
