The spicy scenes are beautifully done as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Too many improbable happenings for one story. Book had potential to have been much better. *by J***B on Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2017* A Husband’s Regret is a stand-alone story with the early premise of an unwanted wife with a two year old child being located, and subsequently reunited with the husband who had rejected her after informed of the pregnancy. The book includes multiple sexual interludes which are sensuously described in detail. The story itself has a lot more meat to it than did The Unwanted Wife, book 1 of this series, but I found that book to be more believable. Most of the angst in A Husband’s Regret seemed falsely created, as if the author kept adding more and more story elements just to create a cohesive whole out of one which didn’t really exist. It felt like padding on top of padding, rather than a believable story. Here are just a few inconsistencies: It’s bizarre that Bronwyn would be desperately in love with Bryce, and yet, although having sensuous sexual interludes with him, start rejecting him right after he indicates that he wants to have a family life with her and their child. Additionally, Bryce's behavior of continually resenting Bronwyn for her supposed actions, and yet refusing to listen her side of what had happened, and after hearing it to even consider her side, makes no sense, especially given his obvious feelings for her. Also, a formerly hearing person who was subsequently deaf for many years would not have acquired the speech reading/lip-reading skills portrayed in this book by the character, who had experienced a more recent hearing-impairment. Many, many persons who use signing skills as a means of communication do not acquire lip-reading/speech-reading skills, and even those highly skilled with speech-reading (lip-reading) skills can discern only about 30 % of conversation. Admittedly, this unrealistic portrayal might have disturbed me more than others, as I had worked in a related field for quite a few years. Unfortunately I found myself struggling to get through this book, not really caring enough to want to read it to conclusion. There were too many improbable happenings within the one main story. This was disappointing as I had really enjoyed The Unwanted Wife, and had therefore quickly purchased Book ll of the series. Sometimes good development of a basic story is enough, and adding a tangled weave of numerous other happenings is too much. In the case of A Husband’s Regret, the numerous improbable happenings detracted from what otherwise would’ve had the potential to become a very good story. That being said, it must be pointed out that this author seems to be not only capable of better work, but also a writer with good potential. I look forward to reading other works by her, if only to determine whether or not the quality of book 1 of The Unwanted series is an anomaly, or representative of better things to come.
