Or is it ONLY for starting the seeds?** A: This mix isn't ideal for growing most plants to maturity. It's very light, with very little fertilizer (to avoid "burning" tender roots). It's designed for starting and then transplanting into other soil. The plants I left in it after starting didn't grow as well as plants in more suitable soil. You could add fertilizer to it after the plants are started, I suppose. **Q: If I water this seed starting potting mix first then plant the seed then water it again will the seed grow?** A: Yes, I find its actually easier to water it first. That way it allows the mix to compact & your seeds don't float around or get too deep or to shallow. **Q: Can this be used to grow vegetables for eating？** A: Yes I've used it for tomatoes, peppers, spinach, spring mix ect. All miracle grow products are safe for growing food. **Q: Why can't this item be shipped to Washington State?** A: Soil is strictly controlled under APHIS quarantine regulations 7 CFR 330 because it can readily provide a pathway for the introduction of a variety of dangerous organisms into the United States. Importation of soil into the United States from foreign sources is prohibited, and movement within the continental U.S. is restricted unless authorized by APHIS under specific conditions, safeguards and controlled circumstances described in a permit and/or compliance agreement. I would think Miracle Grow soil contains soil from outside the US.
