## Overview

The Shimano CENTERLOCK to 6-Bolt Mount Adapter (SM-RTAD05) is a durable steel and alloy conversion kit that allows cyclists to mount 6-bolt rotors on Centerlock hubs. Designed for easy home installation using a standard Shimano lockring tool, it includes all necessary hardware for a secure fit. Ideal for one-piece rotors, this adapter ensures compatibility and reliable braking performance backed by a 2-year warranty.

## Description

Shimano's Centerlock to 6-Bolt Disc Rotor Adapter is a pretty straightforward article. It slides onto the centerlock mount on your hubs, leaving an interface to mount a six-bolt rotor. It includes a six-bolt washer, a lockring, and a circle clip to secure the conversion, and a standard Shimano lockring tool is all you need to install it. It's a home mechanic's job, but note that each kit only adapts one centerlock hub, so you'll need two for an entire bike. Please note that this kit is not compatible with most 2-piece rotor designs. These rotors typically feature an anodized black center carrier that is bolted to the steel outer rotor, and they can create clearance issues when used with this kit. Stick to one-piece rotors for optimal compatibility.

Review: Exactly what I needed - I'd bought a new wheelset second hand for my mother's mountain bike - it was a good deal and I was happy to see them arrive in the mail. And then I realized that ONE of the wheels was centerlock, and the other was 6-bolt. I'd already bought a fairly nice 6-bolt rotor and stewed for a little while until I found that these things can be solved with a handy kit like this. Day saved. Sanity no longer quite as wounded, and for a price that was well worth avoiding the hassle and delay that sending a wheel back to have it re-laced onto a different hub would be. When I got this little kit in-hand I didn't immediately see how it went together (thank you YouTube). Even so, there are different versions of this kit and the older one with pins (instead of bolts) is what I kept finding. Finally I found a video with this model and set off to installing it myself. I'll describe the order of assembly so you don't have to go looking. The black centerlock-to-6-bolt machined aluminum piece goes on first, and it fits impressively tight on the centerlock splines. The rotor gets bolted on right after this. For the information of all, the flat, one piece rotors tend to work best with this conversion kit. Next the large 'washer' fits on over the raised heads of the bolts against the rotor - you want the 'hashed' surface up/facing you, as this will engage the thin steel ring on the underside of the last piece as a lock washer. Finally the threaded piece which accepts bottom-bracket wrench is what tensions the whole thing together. After assembling this, I was impressed by how solid it came together and how well it worked. I definitely had hopes this would solve my problem, but once installed I was impressed by how the design is simple, stable/solid under hard braking, and compatibility is exactly as advertised. The peace of mind that comes with it being a Shimano component is a bonus, but the performance and compatibility with a Sram hub helps me highly recommend this to anyone needing a hub conversion...without paying for a hub conversion.
Review: Good - Good Shimano oem quality fits my magura storm 203 rotor and handles it just fine

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's STEEL and it WORKS!
*by E***E on July 14, 2018*

I needed a new Centerlock adapter to replace an aluminum Bontrager model that I managed to wear out the threads after replacing probably my third rotor (I commute 20-40 miles a day). They did not strip due to cross threading, at least that I could tell, but just from too many removal/install cycles using a calibrated torque wrench (for the final torque step after hand threading). Before I hit the 40nM point, the resistance just went from slight to nothing. Removal saw little bits of thread come out. I was worried they were bits of the Shimano dynamo hub, but they were not magnetic and definitely felt aluminum. That preface out the way, the Shimano Centerlock adapter works fine. It comes with six bolts, with thread locker already applied, and ready to go. Installing it was a cinch using a torque wrench in the usual manner. The locknut portion was easy to start the install by hand, but you do need the appropriate adapter to complete the tightening. If I am wrong, I will correct it, but I am fairly certain I used a Park Tool BBT-49, now the 49.2 model Park Tool Bottom Bracket Tool - BBT-49.2 Black, 39mm , bottom bracket tool along with a 3/8" torque wrench such as this Tekton, which I also use TEKTON 24330 3/8-Inch Drive Click Torque Wrench (10-80 ft.-lb./13.6-108.5 Nm) . The big selling point is that it is steel, so I expect no issues with thread damage. If you need a new adapter, I highly recommend this one, a genuine Shimano piece.
