## Description

Review: Unputdownable romantic read, but the age gap trope and the character dynamics just weren’t for me. - 2.5 stars I really did try, but the age gap trope just isn’t for me. That’s not to say it was a bad book - engaging storyline, plenty of angst, and undeniable chemistry but It just didn’t click for me. Jordan is attracted to the wrong person: Pike Lawson. Pike is tall, tattooed, caring - and the father of her boyfriend. He provides a place for his son, Cole, and Jordan to live while they sort out their financial issues. Pike finds himself drawn to Jordan; she’s everything he’s looking for. But she’s only 19 and, worst of all, his son’s girlfriend. The nearly 19-year age gap, coupled with Pike being Cole’s father, didn’t sit well with me. Jordan is portrayed as strong, hardworking, and supposedly mature, but her actions really irritated me! I hated that she pushed Pike to tell Cole about their relationship. Pike was with his son’s girlfriend, and while Jordan didn’t have much to lose, Pike could potentially lose his son and she seemed to completely ignore that. 😏 Then there’s Pike. He owns a construction company and enjoys his life, but he’s never been serious about any relationship until Jordan. What annoyed me most was his lack of effort to repair his relationship with his son. He opted to give Cole “space” while pining after Jordan. Their chemistry was undeniable, but it felt more like a forbidden craving than true love. 😒The whole thing reeked of a strong sexual attraction and nothing more, which was a real buzzkill! To top it off, the story felt stretched to the point of snapping, and I found myself drifting towards the end. An unputdownable romantic read, but the age gap trope and the character dynamics just weren’t for me.
