What scratches the sound board is the metal tip, just wrap the cloth around it. Be careful using it tho. *by E***. on October 15, 2018* There's nothing else that works like this for dust under the strings on a grand, not that I've ever found, but it requires a lot of care to use. I managed to scratch the soundboard in a couple places using this thing, it's stamped out and the edges were sharp. I rounded the edges with some emery cloth and that helped, still high risk for damage if you're not very careful, though. The dusting cloth included was too large, ended up cutting a wide strip from it and that helped getting under the low strings without getting stuck or digging in.
