Review: This is not a bad switch and runs cool as in temps. Looks to be well built and comparable to my other Netgear SWs. I connected one PC at 2.5G speeds and the light turned green.but It cannot sustain or achieve 2.5G because the rest of the network is at 1G so I doubt I will ever see 2.5G throughput until all devices are upgraded to 2.5G or higher. But it is fine not much more to say and been running solid since date of purchase a couple of weeks ago.

**Q: I bought a couple of these switch boxes and they arrived with power adapters that do not fit in a usa outlet. how do i fix this?**
A: The power adapters come with an additional attachment in a little plastic bag in the box. That attachment inserts into the included power adapter and should be the correct attachment to fit into your countries power outlets. They designed it that way so they could sell this product in different countries and use the power adapter inserts to make it compatible with your countries power outlets. Make sure you look in the box and see if that power adapter insert piece is present. If it isn't, I'd return and get a replacement unit that does include it.

**Q: Do ineed a separate dhcp router in order to generate ip addresses or will this unit generate ip addresses on it's own?**
A: Yes.  This is only a switch, not a router.  You need to BYO DHCP server.

**Q: Can my cable modem be connected to this switch?**
A: If your "cable modem" also has a router, then yes.  If they are separate, then it would be 'modem - router - switch. I do not know about trying to split the modem signal with this but it would pass-through.

This is not a bad switch and runs cool as in temps. Looks to be well built and comparable to my other Netgear SWs. I connected one PC at 2.5G speeds and the light turned green.but It cannot sustain or achieve 2.5G because the rest of the network is at 1G so I doubt I will ever see 2.5G throughput until all devices are upgraded to 2.5G or higher. I've been looking for the perfect, fan-less, desktop switch that supported 10Gb SFP+ modules and 2.5GBASE-T Ports for a while and (so far) this TRENDnet switch ticks all the boxes. I originally tried a QNAP switch which was a terrible experience -- it had issues with my Intel SFP+ transceivers and exhibited packet loss and low throughput. Contrary to the QNAP switch, this switch "just worked" from the start. Pros: * No issues with my 10Gbe SFP+ transceivers to the router using 850nm OM4 fiber * Quiet, no fans * No packet loss but I have yet to test full 10Gb wire speed * Arrived with the latest firmware version * Impressive set of managed switch features that you would normally find on enterprise rack switches * Decent management via HTTPS Web UI & SSH support * Packaging includes rack mount ears in case you want to install into a cabinet Cons: * This is more of a nit-pick but I wish the web UI would show the internal temperature for the switch So far this switch has been solid.
