It has a threaded fitting where it enters its socket. The original Ultra had two stems sticking out with o-rings, plus a third stem as a key. **Q: This says it lasts for 6 months but after 2 months our fridge tells us to replace. What’s the deal with that? Does it actually need to be replaced?** A: The six month rule is just given, because of an average consumption of water in a typical household. If you fit this profile, they 6 months would be the right timing. However, a filter is good for a determined amount of water flowing through for filtering. If it just sits there and is not used, it can last forever! I never drink water from the fridge dispenser, so my filter gets no usage at all. In that case, I just simply reset the timer to zero, and done. **Q: Why is this 45 bucks when you can buy 1 for $15 everywhere else?** A: Where can you buy for $15 ..
