It is adjustable a foot up or down. **Q: How much sand do you need to fill** A: We filled ours with water. I am guessing that we added over 20 gallons. We thought of using sand but it seemed like it would take all day. **Q: Can you take it apart to transport?** A: I think so. Yes. After relaying to my Dietician (who is a retired boxer), she got me a list of items to get- this being one to start out on. I will recommend using all purpose (dry sand). I don't like the idea of sitting water (germaphobe). Play sand is just to wet & makes nothing but a mess even using a funnel.
