It is easier to move the DP spindle down than to precisely move the DP table up. If your DP doesn't have a spindle position lock, look at the DPs that have them, then fabricate one that will work on your DP. I made one from wood and a 1/4" -20 bolt. Works great. 1 flat=0.008". Makes precision planing with this tool a piece of cake. Review: A huge time saving piece for segmented wood turning. - StewMac Safe-T-Planer: WOW ordered on 2/4/26 and was on my door step on 2/6/26. Now That's Fast! So I just got it today. The quality is top shelf, a solid well made piece. Thought I had time to build a table bed and fence. Wasn't due till the 11th. I know what I'm doing tomorrow. When I get a chance to try it out I'll re post how it worked. The price point on this piece is worth every dime. 2/7 After a test drive of the Safe-T-Planer on my segmented accent ring and stave bowel I'm more the happy with this purchase. With proper speed and feed rate my results looked pretty good. With a quick dusting of sand paper I was ready for glue up. I wasn't sure about running the accent ring (1/2" thick X 3/4" wide and 9" across) I worried about a blow up. Again keeping fingers out of the way and a good hold down with correct speed and feed it was uneventful. A quick sand and it's ready to go. FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY AROUND! Thank Guys! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good sharp cutting tool to replace the old Wagner unit. *by P***W on February 12, 2025* Good planer head, works as good or better than the original Wagner unit, plus has reversible cutters for longer life. I started using these as a wood pattern maker decades ago for sand castings. I use min in a milling machine, although they are used a lot in a drill press. In the drill press, make sure the quill (spindle) is securely locked, as well as the table. when planing.
