The overhead night in my home office created a shadow and the desk lamp created glare. I have shelves above my desk where I could mount the the light. I also needed something that was very thin so it would not block my view of my large monitor. This light nailed it ... it was easy to mount with the double sided tape. The tape is strong so make sure you place it correctly the first time because there is no second chance. Once it is stuck to the shelf it is stuck. It is very thin, it does not block my forward view. I hardly notice it. The power cord ... I have it running out to the side and the wire taped to the side of my desk, for now. I will work on a better solution to hide the wire later. I think I will be able to drill a hole so I can feed the cord to the light and just use a little tape to keep it in place. It is a bright light that lights up my desktop but does not effect the monitor. I have the 36 inch light but I should have gone with the longer unit. You won't be disappointed! **Q: The lights I have now get so hot that they melted the top of my coffee maker. Do these say cool?** A: This light stays pretty cool. They are a little bit warm to the touch but just barely and certainly would not melt anything it touches. However, if you plan on using just the double sided tape provided to mount the light, it will not hold. I had mounted the light strip with the double sided tape to the bottom of a metal storage cabinet (over the workbench) in the garage and as it made the tape slightly warm, it came down after a few days. Despite other reviews where they said it holds the light, for me it did not and I had to use the screws provided with the light. Overall, the light is great, gives off plenty of light, the touch on feature works flawlessly and I would recommend this light. **Q: I bought this strip light to run off a timer but it doesn't seem to turn on automatically. Is there something wrong with my light?** A: I know that there are two ways to run the light, depending on which end you plug the cord and plug into. One has it on all the time, the other you tap that end to turn it on and off. If you want to use a timer I am not sure how that would work - it would depend on how the timer works. Sorry I couldn't be more help! **Q: Is it possible to remove the transformer and wire directly to a 12v camper system with no negative effects?** A: While it will work, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I received my light strip and was planning to run it off a battery. After booking it up to a battery that should have lasted over 6 hours, it lasted only 45 minutes until it had depleted the battery and in the process became so Hot, that the outer aluminum burned my hand. This strip isn’t designed to be powered by anything by the power supply it comes with. It doesn’t have its own way to limit the current and will therefore use whatever current is available. Sleek and simple witch was what I was looking for. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Customer Service Was Wonderful *by C***C on August 7, 2018* UPDATE: 12/2/2018 We have ordered and installed the 12, 24, 36 and 48 inch 4000K lights. We ordered them because of their small footprint and and sleek design. They have lived up to that image. Pros: Lights can be always on or you can use the power button-all depends upon the end you plug the transformer in to. 4000K are nice and bright but not overwhelming under the cabinet. We use them more than our overhead lights now. Easy to install as long as you have an accessible power source. The customer service through Amazon is awesome. We had to contact them a few times and they took care of our issues. Now on to the cons. Cons: The transformers seem to be a hit or miss. We had to replace the 36 and 48 inch ones. We are using them with the power on/off. It was difficult to know if the light was defective or the transformer. After install, one light worked, started blinking on/off, and then stopped and the other one did not work at all. The company sent out a new set right away. We have had the replacements in and have been using them for 2 weeks every day and they are marvelous. We turn them on and off repeatedly without problems. They are expensive but if you compare prices for these lights at this time, they are comparable to what is out there. Update 11/13/2018: 48" light was just installed today under the cabinet and after about 30 minutes of being on, it started blinking on and off as evident in the video. Switched out the transformer with the 12" one I just purchased and still blinks. The 12" light pictured is using the transformer that came with the 48" and is not blinking. We also just installed the 36" and after a few hours of being on, the light died. The transformer was able to still power one of the other lights so it was the light that stopped working. We just purchased 2-12" lights (still returnable) and 2-24" (past the returnable date) to finish out the lighting. Returning the 12" ones before the deadline may be an option but it is terrible that we have spent over $200 on these slimline lights and so far, the two that cost a total of $94 are throw-a-ways right after install. LEDs are supposed to last for a very long time but these lasted just about as long as it took me to write this rating! Original Post: The transformer is defunct and there are missing screws. Sent seller an email as I would like a replacement. Purchased the 48 inch light and that one works just fine so I was able to try it on the 36 inch one. Verdict, light works, transformer is dead. Awaiting the seller's response at this time.
