I put 50 boxes (1,000 rounds) of 7.62x39 ammo in the can and it only took two rows on the bottom of the can, approximately 3 1/2" of the 14" tall can. I believe this would easily hold close to 4,000 rounds. There are handles attached on each end of the lid, and the entire lid removes. There were no defects, the paint and gasket are in excellent condition. This can makes a standard 50 Cal. can seem small. The only thing i could say (if this were a con) is that the can is heavy, but it needs to be to hold the ammo, so i don't see this as a negative, its built sturdy. Its a great way to store a lot of ammunition. Review: Exactly as described - Perfect for my needs. Not factory new but not junk. Do not load heavy unless you plan on using a hand cart to move it. It's easy to put 2000 rounds in one while it's sitting there on the ground and say it will hold 2000 more no problem. Yes that's how big these are.
