They work really well covering larger areas with that nice broad tip. You can even tilt it a bit to make a smaller line ( getting close to an edge). I find they work well with dragging the marker along and letting the flow just run to give a smooth coverage. You can also dab it down when working with a stencil or needing a little more texture/build-up. One thing to note: the paint will take a little while to fill that tip, have patience with it. Unlike the smaller sizes, the tip seems to be a pretty thick felt type material with a little more "give" than the 5M+3M ones. They do feel more like a felt brand tip permanent marker (sharpie style), where the smaller sizes are more rigid - marking it easier to get finer lines and such. Paint coverage is good one these. In using standard gesso canvas, I did two passes in a larger area of work. It worked really well and gave that same coverage as some of the smaller areas I used with smaller ones. With these I find them very valuable for spur of the moment ideas, doodles, goofing around. because you just shake it up, de-cap/prime and GO! Is it 15 or 8? thanks...** A: It is a 15 piece set. **Q: Is it posible to use light colors over dark colors?** A: Yes but only after the dark is completely dried. And make sure the lighter color isn't too watery. This will cause the dark to blend in as the pen point drags across the surface. And apply light colors twice when necessary. **Q: Can colors be blended together?** A: Yes. Typically you want to blend with light first, then dark after. It's imperative. The colors that blend in lighter shades are harder to get off of the pen points. So black first then put white on top? Gets gray, but stains the white tip. White first THEN black, black is ok. **Q: How flexible is the tip of the bold pen? Will it glide over curved surfaces or get into crevices well?** A: The nibs are very flexiable! I use these to paint on canvas as well has clothe hats. u may have to just adjust the tip in the direction u need nut it does glide well. You do get sometimes excess felt from the tip if u use it on paper but other thrn that they are in my opinion some of the best paint markers on the market. Nice saturated and opaque pigment that resists water (aka, if it get rained on for a couple of hours, it still looks pretty darned decent - little to no running). Nice color variety, and the chisel tip holds up well with multiple uses.
