The casing is plastic but then what do you expect for the money? It worked with my old m.2 drive without any issues. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saved My Upgrade from Being a Total Disaster! *by B***N on 18 July 2025* I was in the middle of a PC upgrade when I hit that sinking feeling... my new motherboard didn't have a slot for my old M.2 SATA boot drive. It was a big problem, and I thought I'd have to buy a whole new SSD. I found this adapter and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did. Much better value than buying a new drive. It worked perfectly straight out of the box. I just plugged my M.2 drive into the card, put it in the 2.5-inch enclosure, and connected it like a normal SATA drive. The PC booted up from it instantly with no issues at all. It was a complete lifesaver. My only minor negative is that the mounting screw inside didn't fit with my particular M.2 drive (a standard 2280 length). So, I couldn't screw the nvme down properly. However, the SATA connector holds it in place quite well, and for extra security, I just used a small piece of electrical tape to hold the end down. It's been working fine ever since. A brilliant, simple solution to a very frustrating problem. A note for other buyers: Make sure your M.2 drive is a SATA-based one (usually has B+M keys).
