Overkill for the average home's computer. Note to gamers: You don't need this for a gaming computer. It will not perform any better for games than the i7-4700k. No current or soon to be released games use more than 4 cores / 8 threads. The i7-4700k is better suited for this. It has 4 cores / 8 threads, and has a faster processor speed, all for one third of the price of the i7-4900k.
