I have an approximately 10-year-old pen (still the old grey design) that's gone strong. Also a box of the newer style (black, like what's in the picture) that are probably 8 years old now. They just keep writing. Keep the cap on 'em and you'll be fine for a decade or more. **Q: is it airplane safe?** A: I've used these pens since grade school in the 80's. I never have luck on airplanes. I even tried this past time to leave the cap not shut all the way as others say helps. Nope! Ink all over the top. I wonder if it's also type of plane. I'm on both the big 737's from major airports to little puddle jumpers to smaller regional airports during the same trip. Maybe the bigger planes are less of a problem? Wish I knew cause the pens aren't cheap and hate loosing them to explode ink on my plane trips! **Q: Is the ink resistant to chemical solvents?
