The Fling-ama-String cat toy hangs on any standard door knob. It is battery-operated and can run for hours. A long string is sewn to a soft, flat elastic "conveyor belt" which constantly rotates to bring the string out and then back in. Even if the string is caught, the string will automatically begin to rotate again after it has been released. The toy has 2 speeds to satisfy the frisky or faint feline. My cat hates automated toys - they are either too loud, too fast and harsh, or the movements just don’t come off "organic" enough for her. But this one really does it! The inclusion of the elastic band (to attach it to any standing surface) and a large hook (to hang it off any door or drawer of reasonable height) is a smart design choice! I’ve latched this toy in multiple places to shake things up for her, she loves strings and the movement on this toy although repetative is enough to keep her curious! Shoutout also to the mechanics keeping this sucker running, often enough my cat manages to bite onto the string and this would prevent the motor from rotating the elastic band???? But on off on off and this toy is still going strong - pretty sure it’s made of really good parts inside! And it is also easy to replace the inner elastic band & string with easy-to-find sewing materials (little stitching skills is required!) But I came back to this listing to actually buy a back up because for years I’ve never seen them available anywhere else but it’s currently unavailable and I’m shocked at the number of reviews this item severely deserves??????? Maybe it’s the stupid desertcart algorithm. **Q: My cat likes to eat string. what type of string is it and can it be chewed off?**
A: My Nebelung mix is an infamous string-chewer to the point where I can’t leave him unsupervised with cat wands. He managed to chew through the string within 10 minutes of playtime.

I’m hoping the vendor offers replacement strings, seeing as I paid roughly $50 and my cats love it. And I’m lucky my fur boy only chewed the bottom and it’s still functional.

Just keep a close eye on your cat during playtime and intervene if they start chewing—both for the toy’s sake and theirs.

**Q: I have lever door handles rather than knobs and was wondering if it would attach properly?**
A: I am not quite sure what you mean by lever handles. My door has handles that are like little horizontal bars, so you pull down on the bar rather than turn like a knob. The toy attached just fine to them.

**Q: Reviews on another site said it's not safe enough to use without supervision--concern over chewing off/swallowing the string.  What do you think?**
A: If your cat is prone to chewing string like mine is, there is no way you could leave them alone with this toy. If given the opportunity, mine would chew off the string in no time flat and then swallow it. My cat never had the opportunity because the toy would not keep running, another reason why you have to supervise. Every time it stopped which was just a few seconds, I had to open the battery compartment and close it to start it up again. The on/off switch wouldn't restart it. Cats loved it while it ran, but I sent it back because it wouldn't keep running.

**Q: does it do what they say it does ?**
A: Yes, it does. I thought mine died tonight after 2 months but it turned out my batteries were bad..phew. It's a good thing because my cats love this and lay next to it waiting for me to turn it on

I'd give this 10 out off 10, My cat is 9 years old and she absolutely loves this toy it's worth every penny had hours of fun watching her play on Christmas day and every day since. She even wakes me up early hours in the morning for me to switch it on so she can play but she gets annoyed when batteries stop so bought Amazon basic charger & rechargeable batteries to keep her happy. Happy cat happy owner.
