The cover flips back nicely and the case is just easy to hold while reading the Kindle. The magnetic closure is secure, but not too strong either - it's easy enough to open. In fact, it saved my kindle! I had the original lighted cover for my Kindle Keyboard, the one with tabs that linked the kindle to the cover an powered the light. However, when my toddler daughter got ahold of it and tried to "turn the page", she bent the tabs and broke the mounting holes on the kindle. This meant I couldn't really replace the lighted tab, so I went to look for one that held it in place by some other means. This cover is a perfect fit! It is very easy to put the kindle into the case, and it is easy to take it back out. The PU leather feels great, but it is also very tough stuff. Best of all, this case is far lighter than the desertcart cases. I find reading with this a much more pleasant experience. In fact, even when I am doing heavy annotating, I don't take the kindleout. I can fold back the cover and type quite comfortably with the cover in place. In fact, I prefer this cover over the original desertcart covers. This is because it is smaller, lighter, and I think it offers more protection. It has the keyboard at the bottom of the screen. The kindle paperwhite was a later model **Q: Is this case rigid? I primarily need it to insure the screen cannot flex and crack.** A: Yes the case is rigid. Your Kindle will not flex. The case feels nice to hold also. **Q: Will this fit 1st generation kindle keyboard?** A: I do not believe so, but I'm not really knowledgeable. I have a Kindle w/wifi. I called the help desk @ 1 866 321 8851. **Q: Looking for case with built in light. Does this one have that?** A: No, it does not. You'll have to buy the light separate from the case. I bought the ikross black dual LED clip on light and it has worked great for me if that helps any with your search.
