From the Manufacturer Homak Manufacturing was founded in 1947 in Chicago by Sigmund H. Danziger. The name "Homak" was coined after a sign that Sigmund saw on a hat store. Originally a manufacturer of steel kitchen cabinets, Homak Expanded its product offerings in the 1960s to included a separate line of hardware products such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories. Homak's hardware line remained strong and was accepted in many major retail businesses of its time. Following Sigmund's death in 1979, his wife, Gertrude, ran the company for 25 years. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak extended its product line with automotive, hospital, and sporting goods. In January of 2005 Homak was acquired by JVA and moved its office to western Pennsylvania. Its facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center. Today, Homak emphasizes tool storage and gun cabinet security. The full product line consists of hand-carry toolboxes, tool bags, parts organizers, tool storage cabinets, workbenches, garage furniture, safety cabinets, spill containment systems, P.B & E. products, steel lockers, gun cabinets, fire-resistant safes, ammo storage boxes and accessories. I expected to be shipped a pile of sheetmetal to be bolted together like the tool cabinet I have in my garage, but was happily surprised to see one-piece spot-welded construction upon unboxing. Exterior finish looks very presentable. As far as interior room goes, expect to fit 4 rifles with optics comfortably and easily accessible, and 2-3 pistols with magazines on the top shelf. It's not a huge amount of room, but for the price I'd rather buy a second one of these cabinets for "overflow" than some of the larger, more expensive competitors on the market. There were only two drawbacks to this cabinet that I found; because the door and lock is so heavily constructed, the entire cabinet is front heavy and therefore MUST be secured to a wall to be stable, but that only keeps your valuables safer. The only thing that really bugs me is that the actual lock cylinder feels cheap and notchy when inserting and turning the key, but it functions and it seems to be getting "broken in" a little with use.All in all, if you need a spot to keep a few guns out of curious hands, this is a good bang for your buck. Can't go wrong with free Prime shipping on an oversize item, either. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Top heavy. Falls over with guns in it. ... *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2017* Top heavy. Falls over with guns in it. And had to take the shelf out because it wouldn't fit the guns with it in there. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value for the price *by S***C on Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2015* This is a decent gun locker, but weighs in at about 70 pounds rather than the 30 that it was advertised at. UPS must've dropped it on something because there was a nice dent right next to the locking mechanism. I hammered it out flat, but maybe more than 1/4" of styrofoam in the box would be helpful. If properly bolted down it will be hard for a thief to take the whole locker, but with enough determination they will get into it. This does what it is advertised to do and no more. I wish it came with more of the extended gun rests, or that you could buy more as I could use several more. Getting 10 rifles in properly is pretty hard, but I have four handguns hanging from the shelf and have 10 rifles in there as well. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.kg/products/26010282-first-watch-14-gun-steel-security-cabinet-black-hs30120140](https://www.desertcart.kg/products/26010282-first-watch-14-gun-steel-security-cabinet-black-hs30120140) --- *Product available on Desertcart Kyrgyzstan* *Store origin: KG* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
