So you can hardwire it to one terminal where 12V is ON all the time. I'd recommend to buy something like Magic Power that keeps powering your camera for the amount of time you choose (0,6,12,24hrs or until predefined battery voltage) and hardwire them. It's small and unobtrusive, and was easy to set up over WiFi with a smartphone. It DOES NOT have a screen or ability to review video without a smartphone or PC, but I knew this going in. It works great for my application, and (obviously) functions totally independently of the front camera. I viewed some of the recorded videos (by removing the SD card and putting it in my PC) and found them to be of decent quality and sufficient for recording any rear end accidents.
