The closest IKEA to me is over 2 hours away, and the shipping cost of two Alex drawer units plus a 98 inch countertop was only $60. These should be no more than around $20 over msrp. Definitely not twice the msrp. **Q: Inside drawer measurement?** A: i can confirm that the small drawers will close with clearance on an item that is exactly 3.5" tall measured with calipers. therefore the distance from the bottom of the drawer to the lowest point of the one above it is slightly greater than 3.5" **Q: What is the thickness of the top of the Alex drawer unit? I am going to be drilling small furniture legs on top of it to raise up my desk.** A: It's 1/2" However if you drill it may not hold as it's made of compressed wood. **Q: How far do the drawers slide out? (Measured from the front face of the drawer)** A: When you are building it, IKEA gives you some stops so the drawer will not pull all the way out. I did not install them when assembled and they will pull all the way out. I too was concerned that I would have waisted space toward the back. Really easy to put together. The problem i have is I decided to order some more Ikea furniture and decided to check out the Ikea app and see if I could maybe save a bit of money. Well I got screwed on here! For the price of just two of the drawers on Amazon I spent more than on Ikea's shopping app where I was able to buy 3 drawers, 2 desk tops, and 2 sets of adjustable legs for like I said less than only 2 drawers on Amazon.
