It's worse in the winter, and worse if I shower twice a day. My dermatologist recommended Vanicream soap. That works well in that it doesn't cause eczema no matter how much I shower. But, it doesn't feel like it cleans very well and it leaves behind a slippery residue. I tried many different soaps and this Grandpa's Pine Tar is the best. It actually gets your skin very clean---even after a day digging out tree stumps or an intense Jiu Jitsu class. But it doesn't cause eczema and doesn't leave a greasy residue. I actually think it makes eczema go away, but I can't prove that. Personally, I love the smell. It smells like a campfire to me. My wife doesn't mind it, but she thinks it smells a bit like asphalt. Will definitely continue to purchase ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Total relief for dry, itchy skin *by D***E on May 14, 2020* Lots of allergies and dry, fair skin — not a wonderful combination to begin with. I’ve had dry skin all my life. But now pushing beyond 60 and with radiation treatments back a few years, it’s no surprise that during high allergy season, itchy, flakey skin and scalp are a constant for weeks in a row. I’ve tried a lot of soaps and this is formula, so far, has worked the best. (It also seems to actually clean the skin, LOL, unlike some pricey brands I’ve tried.) I’m happy I tried this product and wish I’d listened to my friend’s advice about it long ago. But its cost kept me from trying it until now. I was also aware that it would probably have a strong scent. Yes, it is pungently pine, but, here’s another laugh — the strong scent sort of helps you wake up and it doesn’t seem to set off an allergic response, like most strong odors. One feature I am very happy about is that it seems to leave a very slight, soft, sleek coating of oil or some other moisturizer on the skin, after it is rinsed off. It says it can be used to wash the hair. I’m trying that next. One feature I’m happy with: unlike lanolin-based soaps, this product is much easier to rinse off. I found this to be a big problem when lanolin soaps are used as shampoo. Apparently the lanolin slickly coats each hair shaft and the result for me, is full-blown, zombie hair. Lanolin soaps also seem to leave a hard-to-clean residue in the bottom of tub or shower.
