It is not a wax or protectant. I have always sworn by Meguiar's products, I tried using this on the black tank on my Harley, there were some light scuffs where the seat meets the tank that were caused from the zipper on my leather jacket. First let me say Harley Davidson's paint is very temperamental, I swear minor abrasions would appear just by breathing on it. Anyway, unlike the others, I did not have good luck. Although after reading their answers, maybe I'll give it another shot, with some real elbow grease. I just bought a new white Mercedes, I had just washed it and was using a chamois to dry. Well the watch I was wearing freaking put a minor scratch in the paint. It did work well in that situation.
