Review: Quirks of this wonderful machine and how to fix them. - I've had this machine a few years now and like everyone else, I absolutely love it. However, there are a few quirks and after spending hours on videos and blogs, here's some things I've discovered: 1. You absolutely must use the correct needles. Organ HLx5. It says this in the manual but it's not stressed enough. Otherwise the thread breaks often, as other users have mentioned. 2. It's very easy to load the bobbin into the bobbin case backwards which causes bad stitching and looks like the tension is wrong. Even though I've used this type of bobbin for years, I keep the picture in the manual handy and always look at it when I load the bobbin. 3. The tension on the machine should be light, around 1.75 and also light on the feed dogs. Aurafil thread works best but regular Walmart thread is ok, too. 4. I love the automatic cutter but it often causes the needle to become unthreaded. The solution to this is to put the needle in the up position before hitting the cutter button. Then, before lifting the pressure foot, pull the fabric back out of the feed dogs. This will pull a little bit of thread out, enough so that it doesn't come unthreaded. (Thank you Chatgpt for telling me this tip which I didn't believe until I tried it. Now it's automatic to do it this way.) Also, if you get rat's nests on the bottom fabric from using the thread cutter, just start on a little scrap piece of fabric that you can discard. Most of the time, the rats' nests aren't a problem but if I don't want to have one, that's what I do. This is a problem with most automatic cutters, not just the Juki. 5. Unlike my Janome and Brother machines, I have never had any luck with the automatic threader on this machine. I just use a little wire embroidery threader (only a couple of dollars on desertcart.) With the right needles, it's very easy to thread it manually. 6. Users say that the backwards pushing feature on the foot pedal that cuts the thread is annoying and they hit it accidentally. I agree and you can buy a little rubber piece that fits on the foot pedal. Just search Juki reverse pedal stopper. $13.50 on desertcart. It will save you a lot of grief. 7. I use a quilting bar all the time to quilt parallel lines. The walking foot that came with the machine doesn't have a bar and I tried to buy other walking feet with them but none of the worked. I final found "Quilting foot with left and right guides" $7.99 on desertcart. It is a regular type of foot with quilting bars. This isn't a walking foot but the machine is so strong you almost never need to use one. I've used it a bunch and it goes through many layers of fabric with foam or batting easily. It saves hours of drawing quilting lines which I hate doing. 8. While you're buying accessories, buy a "stubby flat head screw driver". This will help open up the needle plate easily and you need to do this fairly often to clean underneath it. 9. this machine can go very, very fast and I sometimes wish I'd upgraded to the next level that has a speed control. But it's an expensive upgrade so unless you sew for a living, I don't think it's really necessary. Although it sometimes runs away from you, you get used to it. BTW, it not only sews fast, it sews straight and it's easy to keep the fabric in line (another lovely feature). 10. That's my summary of things that will make you love this machine even more. Even though I've got fancier machines, I use this one most and I'd never part with it. You don't need all the fancy stitches that other machines have and this machine, when used correctly, produces beautiful stitching and goes through multiple layers like butter. Just buy it!!!
Review: Love this machine - I set it up immediately to test the top stitch. The machine delivered what I had hoped for. It is so sturdy and quiet. It handles multiple thicknesses of outdoor fabric and the topstitch seam is so clean and even. It is a straight stitch machine which is all I need for my projects and it does that extremely well. I have paid much more for a lesser machine that is now sitting in the corner. The JUKI foot pedal with the heel thread cutter works great, but my old habit of resting my foot on the pedal has resulted in unplanned cuts and extra technical language, but I will get used to it. The knee lift is terrific but my machine sits on a table with storage drawers so I will only use it on larger projects. This machine is worth every penny.i spent.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the difference in this Juki TL 2000Qi and the Juki TL 2010Q**
A: The Qi has only one tension knob and the Q has 2. The Qi doesn't have a speed control, but the Q does. The Q comes with several more presser feet, the Qi only has the standard foot, walking foot, compensating 1/4" foot, 1/5 free motion foot.

If you ever need a Juki serviced take it to your local dealer and DO NOT send to Juki America Inc. I sent another Juki I own there after using it only 4 times and they still have not returned my machine or responded back to me. It's been a month since they have had my machine. I paid $1300 to a dealer in another state and sent my machine to Florida to Juki America for repairs and haven't received my machine back. Save yourself a headache and NEVER send a Juki to them. Pay the price and have it locally serviced. I wish I had known what an ordeal this has turned in to or I never would have sent my Juki for repairs. I don't have a machine back and I spent a lot of money. I hope I get my machine back some day.

**Q: how wide is the throat**
A: I measured 8 5/8" from the needle to the vertical right side of the throat.

**Q: What feet does this model come with? Walking foot? FMQ foot? Zipper?**
A: Mine only came with standard sewing foot (which is NOT 1/4 inch) and a walking foot. I had to order a 1/4 inch foot so I can easily have nice 1/4 inch seams.

**Q: Does this model have the knee lever?**
A: Yes! I use the knee lever! The machine is great I'm so glad I bought it! Several of my quilting friends have bought this machine after I raved about it

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is an incredible machine!
*by M***N on May 21, 2024*

The picture above is me being able to easily use this Juki to quilt a full size quilt! Let me explain. I have 2 Janine’s, a Bernina, and another plus serger. None had adequate harp area and I didn’t go the quilt as you go route. I have a few other T-shirt quilts to make so I went searching on Amazon. I was specifically looking for a workhorse with no bells and whistles. This baby is IT! She is quiet, easy to use when you carefully go by the manual and the many YouTube videos. The automatic needle cutter was a bonus I didn’t think would be such a wonderful asset. It sees up to 1500 stitches per minute. When doing a lot of straight lines this is great. But it also maneuvers well. I ordered the Grace Cutie Breeze frame to use for more intricate designs with this machine. Substantial and solid, all metal. I ordered needles and bobbins but it comes with plenty of supplies. The price, while not ceap, is reasonable for such a great addition. Update: after posting, I have had issues with thread coming unthreaded, etc. Trying to get help has not been fruitful. I’m upset at this point
