    Good surf striper bag

*by S***Y on Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2020*

I have the medium sized bag and fish in northern california (bay area) so my bluewave bag is full of calissa super glow sardines, mickey jigs, bucktail kastmasters, lucky craft LV500s, and a few larger daiwa SP minnows. This bag is perfect for them -- I especially love its ability to store a variety of spoons, since in the rougher northern bay area near san francisco you often need the casting distance. A 5-compartment plano tackle box fits in the side pocket, which is important. I put 2 4oz pyramid sinkers, a bunch of 1oz sinkers, carolina sinkers, sinker slides, snap swivels, and #1 octopus hooks so that I can do sand crab baitfishing when the lure bite turns off.I was a little worried when I saw comments about durability but I've taken it on 5 outings so far and it's basically in perfect condition still. I love that the compartments were breathable -- sand and water fall out the bottom (watch out when you bring it home from the beach, your floors will get sandy so put something under it).I grew up near the raritan bay in NJ so I have some super strike darters, needlefish, etc. I tested and they fit great, but I don't use them here :)This is my favorite surf bag now. If I could improve it, I'd make it possible to purchase the plastic inserts and sub-boxes in the bag. Also it would be nice to have a better way to store jigs & swimbaits e.g keitechs on jigheads or big hammer swimbaits, and bucktails. The way I deal with that shortcoming is to put a few bucktails in one of those velcro lure wraps (google it) and put that in the pocket of my surf top. It could fit in the front pocket of my bag too, but I use that space for more terminal tackle stored flat. I don't like it too bulgy! If you are deciding between the small and medium, get the medium. You can take out half the dividers if you want and put things that otherwise wouldn't fit in the bag like packs of plastics, more sinkers, etc. It's not a big bag.

    Comfortable

Haven't been out much do to the weather, but the bag is comfortable. Look forward to testing it out more rigorously. Nice slots for bucktails and tins.

Had a pathetic tackle bag for surf fishing so picked this up ...

Had a pathetic tackle bag for surf fishing so picked this up after much research. It's not cheap but it's much cheaper than the more expensive surf bags out there. The bag has strengths and will do the job but it's notably not as good as the more expensive bags that the surf rats use. First the main compartment is occupied with plastic boxes rather than tubes for lures. Each plastic compartment is divided by a removable divider allowing you to use double the space in case you have an extra large lure. There is also a velcro cover that wraps around the main compartment which is lined on both sides with jig holders for your bucktails and such. Wouldn't trust it too much because it would only be held on by gravity and tightness of velcro cover. The out side pocket is rather small but will hold pliers, tackle and hooks but it's a tight fit so don't expect to carry larger items like large sinkers. The fabric is stiff and not too prone to hook penetration so you have some protection but I didn't test it with too much force. The strap is fine and I don't foresee any problems with it.Things I would've liked to see are more pockets perhaps on the sides and slightly more fabric on the outside compartment so I can squeeze a few lead sinkers in there. I also have a 12 inch swimming mullet lure and this bag can't accommodate it. Other than that this bag is compact and sufficient. I'll update as the season goes on. Didn't want to spend over $100 and so far satisfied with the purchase.
