I primarily use the chef's knife, and I use the serrated knife for tomatoes (its amazing how thin it will slice). They are also brittle. It's my job to do the dishes and clean up after meals. I used these knives several times and was pleased by, but scared of, of their sharpness. I dropped the paring knife on our tile countertop and the blade broken if half. Only a few inch drop, but it broke. My fault, clearly. The packaging was still in the waste can and I read lifetime guarantee. There were no exceptions listed. So I went to the Kyocera website and found a warranty return form which I filled out, explaining how I broke the knife. I filled it out and packed it with the knife and sent it off to California...figuring I only had a few dollars in postage to use. I never got a confirming email or call so after two weeks I wrote it off to bad experience and planned to write a three star review. Yesterday, a large unmarked package was delivered by UPS. Large! As in 21"x11"x10". Nestled inside countless pieces of brown wrapping paper was a perfect, new-in-package paring knife. I was so pleased with how a large company handled a stupid mistake by a 75 year old customer.
