The main purpose is so in a studio setting a guitar player can go into an amp via (parallel out ) and XLR to the input on PA /mixing board to record effects while recording . This will not solve your issue, Example -in my band we rehearse in my studio garage my bass player doesn't bring his amp-( to heavy ) he plugs his bass in to a DI box with 1/4 inch TR (Tip Ring) and the other end I use a XLR cable from the DI box to Mic input on my mixing board. It increases the impedance --Unbalanced to Balanced..
