All I had to do was screw it onto my cheese plate and it was ready to go. Although I’m not using it in its full potential, as in wiring it into my camera, I’m using this on a universal mount so it can be a solid mount for gold mount batteries. The plate has a d tap out where I can use to power my camera. The release button is smooth, and batteries slip on perfectly. The loud snap noise is a confidence booster when plugging in a battery, makes you know you have a solid lock connection.
