It's a very nice bit, cuts the door really well. I used it to cut holes in IKEA doors, because I was using a drawer front as a hinged door. It worked really well. It's quite satisfying to see the layers of particleboard being chewed up. Just remember to remove the buildup of sawdust from the bit every now and then - about three times per hole - and you'll be fine. Review: Great drill bit. Poor jig - The forstner bit included in this kit is great. Sharp, true and fairly well constructed. The jig lets this kit down though. The usual 'hook it over the edge of the door and slide into position' just doesn't apply here; despite what the images and illustrations would suggest. If you use it in this way, your drilling will be off the edge of the door and the door is ruined. The only way to make the jig of any use is to flip it over (smooth side down), attach a piece of ply to the back side of the fence using the 2 x supplied screws and use the ply as your new fence. This places the jig drill hole 4mm from the edge of the door. Press the forstner bit into the jig hole leaving a pilot mark on the door. Remove the jig and drill the hole utilising the depth gauge to avoid punching through. Not a great design. Can't decide if it's a defect of just unfinished. I used it to drill 6 holes and the cutter head is still very sharp. I think it can be used for a long time and it will be my good helper!! **Q: How far in should the screws on the edge be ?** A: That depends on what type of hinge you are fitting as they all have a different distance from the edge and that is why you can adjust it to suit the type you have . **Q: Anyone else’s order missing the blue hole template** A: Sum suppliers provide a blue jig, some only supply a drill bit, depends who you ordered it from **Q: Should the blue thing be there while drilling?** A: The blue circle thing you refer to is for you to position the drill bit and centralize the bit, once centralized I remove the plastic to then enable me to drill hole to required depth, if you leave the blue plastic in place it makes drill to your required depth more difficult unless you have a depth stop on said bit and taken into account thickness of the plastic jig.
