Tile is a small Bluetooth device you can attach to your key chain, briefcase, and bag to name a few things. It connects with your mobile device and allows you to ring your misplaced item or vice versa, ring your phone. Now, if you do lose your Tile and are outside of Bluetooth range, you can mark your Tile as lost. This allows the Tile Network to assist in locating your Tile. Once a Tile is marked as lost within the app, any person who comes within range of your Tile with the app running will anonymously send you an updated location. If you ever happen to lose your phone, you can actually use the Tile itself to "reverse ring" and find your phone! Simply double click the Tile button and it will send a signal to ring your phone. This does require you to be within Bluetooth range, and for the app itself to be open and running, so always be sure to keep it running in the background of your phone! Now as you mentioned, hypothetically speaking you misplace both your phone and Tiled item, you can simply log in from a different device to ring your phone or Tile. The Mate is great for attaching to keys and placing in luggage. The Slim is made for a wallet, but I've had the experience of it coming on just because of the way I sat on it. The app has come a long way also as you couldn't reactivate dead tiles, since you couldn't replace the battery. Also, the app now partners with Life 360 allowing your circle (family) to see the location. Don't know if it increases the user base to all of Life 360 or just your circle. A big user base is important if you're looking in a strange location, like a mall. Too bad on the newest ones, you have to upgrade to the Pro tile to get replaceable battery.
