## Description

This 7 Quart enamel Dutch oven is great for cooking, marinating, refrigeration and freezing. The color porcelain enamel on cast iron can be used on gas, electric, ceramic and induction cooktops, as well as in the oven. Not recommended for use on outdoor grills or over open outdoor flames. Not for use in microwaves. Lodge Color Porcelain Enamel on Cast Iron cookware is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. The porcelain surface eliminates the need to season cast iron. The cast iron vessel has superior heat distribution and retention, evenly heating bottom sidewalls and even the lid. Tightly fitting lid seals in moisture. The excellent heat retention reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking. Two layers of very hard, glossy porcelain enamel are chip resistant and easy to clean. Stainless steel lid knob is oven safe to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The black rim on the pot is matte porcelain, not exposed cast iron. Hygienic porcelain enamel is non-reactive with food. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance. Made in China.

Review: A Treat to Use in Any Kitchen - There's no way that I was going to spend the $$$ for a glazed Dutch Oven from Le Creuset or Staub. At a fraction of the price, you get a finely made and versatile cooking vessel from a company with more than 100 years of experience. From a whole chicken, to briskets to soups, our little red oven has done the job. If you've never used one, it takes some time to figure out how it will cook in your oven or stovetop. And it is not light. If your a lightweight cookware household, be prepared to always use two hands. Especially with a few pounds of stew meat! My only complaint is that the proximity to med-high/high heat seems to have altered the red color to become a lot more burgundy. I assume that this is just normal with age. Make sure you have some good silicon grips or handle holders nearby because this thing holds heat for a long time. It's not hard to clean, but TBH, it's not as easy as most of the other things in our kitchen. Just know that you will need a little more patience so not to ruin the ceramic interior or exteriors. Absolutely recommend anyone looking for a Dutch Oven to give this jem a try.

A: We did not treat prior to using. We did oil the unenameled metal lip of the lid after washing to prevent corrosion of the exposed iron.

This is a very nice Quality Oval Casserole Dish. The Color is classic and will be in style for years. I love that you can start on the stove top and transfer to the oven. It's great to be able to use the lid or leave it off. Great Durable handles that make it easy to transfer in and out of the oven. Great for large Roasts, Soups or Stews!
